Song of Ascents for Consecration
Gentle Jesus, meek and mild, hear my sinner’s cries.
I hear your voice say, “Come, I hear your weary sighs.”
Hardness of my heart, softened by one look from Your eyes.
Fire my soul for holiness to make me Your vessel of honor.
Then I will turn sinners back to set them alight by your allure.
In Your Light I see light, You make my darkness become light.
Rescue me out of the captivity of despair from Satan’s lairs.
Take away my weak desires for comfort, hearth and home.
To hearken to Your call to win souls back to Your Kingdom.
Restore unto me a pure heart. Cleanse my hands of sins taint.
Then I will set alight hearts to join in Your march of The Saints.
Roll away the stone and remove the grave clothes of shame.
Restore My heart to hear you say, “This, My Own One I claim.”
I will eat of Your Tree of life and gain wisdom in Your truth.
Then send me forth to bring Your Word of life to the lost youth.
For to live is Christ and to die is gain. Now in Christ I live forever.
Hide me in your refuge to abide in the heart of Our Father.
