“The prodigal son’s feet were under the father’s table and his heart was in the far country, and the father made it possible for him to take his feet where his heart was (he divided unto them his “living” —unusual?) until the son’s heart brought his feet back. Many people (including the writer) have sought to make themselves willing! The hymn writer wrote: “Deep in unfathomable mines of never-failing skill, He treasures up his bright designs AND WORKS HIS SOVEREIGN WILL!” To make a pun, there are depths in me that only God can fathom, where I have had “my sovereign will” and declared this is “mine” and that is “mine” and the other is “mine.” It has to be a work before I surrender!
